An Old Note 一張舊箋

A 49-Year-old Note

After a long telephone conversation with my friend in Taiwan, I kept thinking about my old university classmates. Therefore, I tried to look for something that would refresh my mind.
I found this note in my old diary. It was attached to a Christmas gift on December 24, 1961. I saved it because the writer of this note wrote a reminder to me. It is very similar to the English verse "Casting all your cares unto the Lord for He cares for you."
Yes. Our Lord cares for you and me all these years and will continue to care for us.

一張陳年短箋

昨天晚上再次接到老朋友自臺灣打來的越洋電話, 我們聊了將近一個鐘頭。他告訴我他剛作了一個重要決定要讓我知道, 謝謝您把我當知心朋友; 而且夫妻兩老再過幾天就要出門遠遊看海去, 並預祝我「聖誕快樂」。
這通電話再次激起我回憶那些認識40多年前的大學同學們。昨夜夢境中看到在淡水淡江團契活動往事的幻影。今早一醒來就去翻箱倒篋, 幸好還保留著這一本日記簿。
看到這張短箋。沒寫收函者, 一定是給我的, 不然我怎會收存在我的日記簿裡; 沒註明日期, 從此箋和我日記記事前後可確定是1961年12月24日聖誕節前夕; 寫箋者是我故意掩蓋的。
我已經想不起來49年前的這麼一件禮物了。不過您送我的這句話直到今天仍然很受用: 「在主愛裡, 你永遠沒有傍徨、觀望、猶豫、惆悵、悵惘的。」今天我將它複製出來, 讓我們一起來回味這些年上帝的愛, 祂也必定陪同我們走前面的路。朋友, 保重。
