1.Through
the watches of the night, nothing is stirring,
no
one in sight; no reason to think a beacon of light
soon
will change the world.
Now
the morning star, which never sets,
shines
its light upon a manger bed.
Christ,
the moring star, has come to earth.
Angels
announce with joyful song the Savior's birth.
For
they sing:
"Gloria
in excelsis, gloria in excelsis, gloria in excelsis Deo.
Gloria
in excelsis, gloria in excelsis,
gloria
in excelsis Deo."
2.Darkened
fields now glow with light.
Shepherds
are trembling, lost in their fright.
What
reason have angels come in the night, here among the lambs?
Could
the shepherds hold a special Place.
in
God's love for all the human race?
Christ
he lamb.
Come
now, rejoice, and sing the song angels began.
Come
now, sing:
"Gloria
in excelsis, gloria in excelsis, gloria in excelsis Dro.
Gloria
in excelsis, gloria in excelsis, gloria in excelsis Deo."
3.Shepherds
rise to find God's Son.
Angels
depart, their work here is done.
The
time of salvation now is begun here upon the earth.
Bethlehem
becomes God's dwelling place.
Now
the Word is born in time and space.
God
from God has come as light from light.
Born
now to die and, one day, rise to bring us life.
Come
now, sing:"Gloria in excelsis, gloria in excelsis,
gloria
in excelsis Deo. Gloria in excelsis,
gloria
in excelsis, gloria in excelsis Deo.
Gloria
in excelsis, gloria in excelsis, gloria in excelsis Deo.
Gloria
in excelsis, gloria in excelsis, gloria in excelsis Deo."
