New York City Smoking Ban
Mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg, signed legislation on Feb. 22 prohibiting smoking in parks, beaches, marinas and on boardwalks and pedestrian plazas. The new law takes effect May 23, 2011.
Parks Department officials are authorized to enforce the law, and may issue fines of $50 per violation.
